Born and raised in Wichita, KS, I moved to NYC to work at Vimeo. I like taking photos, trying new beers, and playing video games.

doilookcoolrightnowSo this morning on the subway, I caught the stare of a few men. Usually I don’t do anything except get embarrassed, but today I thought I’d attempt to artificially create a Missed Connection.
I used my peripheral vision to know when they were looking in my direction and I’d glance up, hold their gaze for a split second while simultaneously grinning a bit and then immediately go back to my reading. I made sure to prominently display the book’s title, The Stranger, (perfect right?!) because everyone knows missed connections are in the details.
Eventually I’d like to really take those details up a notch by screaming the Pledge of Allegiance as I leave the train, or crab-walking up the stairs. I just need to make sure my gaze is alluring enough to make them think the crab-walking is cute or patriotic screaming is endearing.
